The benefits and challenges of using technology in the classroom as a professor

 As technology continues to evolve, its presence in the classroom has become increasingly prevalent. As a professor, incorporating technology into your teaching strategy can have significant benefits for both you and your students. However, it also comes with its own set of challenges. In this article, we will discuss the benefits and challenges of using technology in the classroom.

Benefits of Using Technology in the Classroom:

1. Increased Engagement: Technology can make learning more engaging and interactive for students. For example, multimedia presentations and videos can be used to illustrate complex concepts and stimulate discussion.
2. Improved Accessibility: Technology can make learning more accessible for students with disabilities or who are unable to attend classes in person. Online learning platforms and video conferencing tools allow students to access course materials and participate in class discussions from anywhere with an internet connection.
3. Enhanced Collaboration: Technology can facilitate collaboration among students and between students and instructors. For example, online discussion forums and group projects can encourage students to work together and share ideas.

As a professor, it is important to consider these benefits and challenges when incorporating technology into your teaching strategy. By doing so, you can create a more engaging and effective learning environment for your students.

Some of my favorite features in classrooms today are the smart boards and projectors. I enjoy bringing my laptop or iPad to class and connecting either device to the smart board. The image above is one effective way I use the smart board. 

Each morning, I come to class and include a quote of the day as motivation for my students. Each quote shares roles and responsibilities we all have to follow to be successful. The main thing is finding out the best course of action for the advice received and executing.
